@b3rt Re-reading your responses and saw the ports being used in the photo... just wanted to confirm what I am seeing.............. VLAN 20 = ports used are 1 and 5, both tagged,, maybe port 1 is AP and port 5 is uplink? VLAN 10 = ports 1;2;3;5 all tagged using static IP? maybe printer, NAS etc? port 5 is uplink? VLAN 1 = ports 4, 5 port 4 for maintenance laptop and 5 uplink? If I am correct, then this shows I can remove all ports on Native VLAN except for uplink / Trunk (port 5)?

Yup that^ But that is the correct MD5 hash for that file so it looks like an issue with your Etcher install somehow.

It depends why they stopped repsonding and how unresponsive they actually are. If it has some network issue I would expect it to keep logging as normal. If it had some drive or filesystem error it may continue to function for some time but be unable to log anything. It can lock up hard and stop logging or responding entirely but that is far less common. Usually some low level OS bug.

@binary_bandit said in monitoring hardware on 8300 units: Hello all, Has anyone been able to monitor the hardware on the 8300 appliances? I've been unable to set up SMTP alerts using the Insyde IPMI controller. I've also explored SNMP using the IPMI controller, but can not locate an MIB that provides access to the BMC sensors. I'd like to know if a power supply failed, fan stops spinning, etc. best, James Thank You for sharing this experience, James! This is another BIG REASON for fraction of the Netgate’s price (sorry) buying IBM/Dell/Fujitsu bare metal 2xCPU STOCK server, upgrade it for maximum performance, installing Mellanox NICs and have no problem with pesky problems with SuperMicro’s impotence to make normally worked BMC (search on this forum about problems with BMC-interaction software ("Supervyse" looks like Netgate’s customization of Supermicro's “SuperWEB” interface that are on top of Insyde Software Corporation firmware with ASPEED AST2620-A3 chipset) and .MIB profile file. But, if Netgate (which declared himself as “world's leading firewall, router, and VPN solution for network edge and cloud secure networking. With millions of installations worldwide” HAVE NO RESOURCES (or NOT SEE ANY REASONS) TO MAKE PROPER .MIB FILE FOR MONITORING SO CRITICAL NETWORK APPLIENCE, You may try to editing by yourself the .MIB file from Supermicro which are supplied with this model of motherboard No any guarantee, but with 90% probabilities - this “hint” may be working, because very rarely middle/small size brands spending resources for changing anything around BMC firmware. More frequently- just changing the label picture on web interface pages and in CLI…:) If I have a time, I try this and report about results… P.S. For now I am completely sure that for enterprises Zabbix are outdated 5-7 years ago (but still used in many enterprises around the world), and better building the monitoring solutions based on Prometheus (with Vector.dev/Clickhouse for DB) + Grafana. Of course, vanilla Prometheus + Grafana (better choice) or LibreNMS would be 100% enough for monitoring for small companies or for home users.

It's in beta now. I'm running it in "production" and see no issues. That may not be an option for you though. Hard to give anything certain but we are looking at weeks I think.

@Mission-Ghost Interesting. Sounds like the 4200 is going to be worth the extra cost.

I would contact Netgate and or keep waiting for an official Netgate user to respond. Thank you very much for your help.

Because it's a combo port there is very little flexibility there. There are no real settings on the port. It either works or it doesn't. I've tested a few different modules there myself including some BiDi and GPON modules. But I'm not sure I've tested a singlemode module personally.

Update: the Delta fan is the correct part but comes with bare wires. I used this 4 pin PWM fan connector kit to add the connector. I don't own a micro crimp tool but some small needle nose pliers did the trick. I folded the wire back on itself to give more metal for the terminal to crimp onto.

The fact it's in HA makes it more difficult. You would probably have to swap it on both nodes. In the 1541 the ix NICs are in the SoC so I would not expect overheating to be an issue if the CPU is still within limits. But possibly some other component like a PHY. Certainly check the fans and sensor readings between the two nodes.

@pinkfluffyunicorn said in Netgate 4100 regular extreme-slowdowns, have to reboot: verbiage "Improve the system load impact from Dashboard widgets" It does not. Many redmines have a patch. This one does not but there is one in https://forum.netgate.com/topic/190824/cpu-load-on-1100/23. It may be an early version I don't know. Or just close the dashboard. :) Also the web GUI logs each web request for every widget.

It's been a while! But as I understand it the power supply used in those early 1U units was capable of retaining sufficient power that it might remain in standby after a power outage. In that situation the button on the back can be used to power it up. If you're just using a script you might try telling the device to shutdown and halt rather than power off (go to standby).

Depending on what your specific use case is, it may last about the same time-span, maybe a little longer since its newer. Larger the capacity you go, the more bits there are to wear and the longer it will last without needing replaced again. I run a 4 disk 2TB raid-10 on my 5100, nearly three years into wear and currently are all at 95% life remaining. Also, always good to make sure to have a battery-backup unit in place connected to the box and with either nut or apcupsd configured for it on pfSense to make sure voltage fluctuations or surges aren't whats frying it early, having graceful shutdowns when these kinda of times come up can be quite critical for storage devices to avoid corruption.
