      @jriofrio this is efi shell,it just needs filesystem...it should pick up the right file...i think...for efi there is no mbr/boot sector...bios should know the name of the file to load(and be set to boot uefi,hopefully default)...i'm not certain about mbr/gpt partition table,windows uefi needs gpt,but here i probably didn't overthink it and it just booted...just try and see (and google for uefi flash boot/uefi shell,if something does not work right)

        @korenchkin .... Alright, thank you very much for the clarification, it really did help.

        I did the flashing and tested it. I restart it by the serial console and the web interface, both worked as was hoping for.
        A little reading with your comment about efi it help a lot.

        anyway, a quick question if i may. Before the flashing ME91, i was checking the bios and i saw that the image re-flash for the ME was disable, so i enable it, just in case.
        Q: should i disable it back?

        thanks one more time...

          Normally you set that and it applies to the following boot only and will automatically go back to disabled.

          Out of interest I found I didn't need to set that to update the ME. Moving the jumper was sufficient.

            @jriofrio nice,glad it worked,for both of you i guess :)
            I think now you know same as me,so treat your bios as yours,you have it updated,you will not update it again i guess,so maybe it will help against malware to have it disabled...

              I should add that, as predicted, after updating the ME my i3-4160 successfully reboots. For the first time in like 7 years. Amazing! ๐Ÿ‘

                  I was not experiencing reboot issues, but my OCD kicked in so I followed the process ...

                  ... and applied the ME update via AFUDOS.EXE /ME and all went well. Maybe there are other benefits of ME 9.1.40.1000 ๐Ÿ˜

                        Well you'd better upgrade your CPU to take advantage of it then. ๐Ÿ˜‰

                          @stephenw10

                          Already ordered

                          Intel Xeon E3-1265L V3 LGA-1150 CPU Processor 2.50 GHz 4-Core 8MB 45W GPU P4600

                          Same CPU I installed in my previous M400.
                          But delivery will take a bit with the CPU coming from across the pond.

                            @stephenw10 ... Question for you.... Does the newer release of pfsense can't download it as an image anymore? Or is there a way to download the newest image somehow!
                            Also do you know if the newest release has Kea as the default DHCP?
                            Thank you for your time....

                              The latest version of both pfSense Plus and CE is installed using the Netgate Installer image. 2.7.2 was the last version that used the legacy installer.

                              Kea is not yet the default DHCP server.

                                Just being intrigued by, Do you know the reason, why the change, is there any benefit for the new installation process?
                                Trying to make sense of it....

                                  For the user it allows installing any supported version from one install image.

                                  For us it reduces the amount of image testing we have to do every release. And it allows us to distribute an installer for Plus far more easily.

                                    @stephenw10 ... Hello, an advice question: I have been running pfsense for maybe 2 years in a hp PC... For my level of knowledge about pfsense, I think is doing fine holding back some annoyance and of course providing security. I soon will have the m400 box ready to replace the hp PC .
                                    So I am wondering if I could transfer any of my setup that I have modified over time to sut me.
                                    I'm a little worried cause I don't remember all the changes I have made, not even the first tutorial that I used with which I was ok with cause was understandable and easy to follow.
                                    If I have to redo it, hope you have some good recommendations where to find them...
                                    Best regards....

                                      Yes you can import the config into the M400. You may have to reassign the interfaces after importing it if the old box isn't using igb NICs. If you have VLANs or other sub interface types defined it can be easier to edit the config manually.

                                        @stephenw10 ... That's a great news.
                                        Will importing the xml file will do it?
                                        A quick question, I have been trying to download the new installation image for a couple months in anticipation of the new box, but I haven't been able to login, it keeps telling me wrong password, I know it is the correct cause I have it written down, anyway I even went through the "I forgot my password", still keeps telling me with the new password that I have the wrong one.... What's up with that!
                                        Do you have a recommendation in what I could do?..... Thanks again ๐Ÿ˜

                                          Some browser plugin filling in the wrong password maybe? Try a different browser. There's no issue with the store login I'm aware of.

                                            @stephenw10 .... No plugins, I am aware of that so I always type it myself... I will try different browser, I think I did but I will try again.
                                            What about the xml back up file? Will that do it?
