Mine is in an air conditioned office, on test along side an APU4, sharing the same power supply. I've re-imaged and reloaded the config.
Still randomly reboots daily or more

      11 cheers for binary

My personal opinion is these small form factor devices (from any manufacturer) have a little trouble adequately dissipating heat with the limited passive cooling afforded by their reduced heat sink surface area. I'm thinking it ultimately impacts a marginal capacitor or two on the board and you then get random issues. Could also pose a problem for a memory chip or a driver chip that was say marginal to begin with and then the heat pushes it over the edge sometimes.

Mine has died after less than a week in use :-( Does not boot and the only thing I get on the console is:

          sg-1100.png

It then sometimes comes back to life if I leave it for half an hour or so, then reboots and goes through all this again.

When it first started to play up the box was extremely hot.

          Having to return it, sadly.

Took mine out of service yesterday afternoon and left it powered down over night. Started it cold this morning and it took 3 tries before it made it all the way through a boot cycle.

So then I halted the O/S but left the power on. 15 min later it “rebooted” from a halted state.

Looks like the board is toast.

According to the UK resser the SG-1100 has a high failure count :-( It's a really good device, but perhaps has a heat issue? Something that may be fixable with a redesign.

                  Hello, guys,

I have the same issue with my 1100 unit.
I opened it and I saw that the radiator under the chips was really hot.
I cleaned the chips and the radiator with cotton and alcohol and applied some new silver paste. I also saw that the capacitor just next to the power connector is a bit swollen. The capacitor is 470mF @ 16 V.
So, tomorrow I'll buy the needed part and will replace it myself.
I'll update you afterwards. FYI: My unit is running pfSense 25.11 with ZFS.

                  Cheers,

                  Ventsislav Nikolov

                    Hello, guys,

Just to update you, as promised yesterday.
After I replaced the capacitor, I can confirm that my router works fine without any random reboots so far. Anyway, I can say for sure that the temperature of the aluminum plate below the chips is really high and I am not sure what I can do about it. So far I only put new silver paste. I'll continue to monitor it.
If anyone can give me some suggestions of how I could lower the temperature of the device, would be much appreciated.
                    Thank you.

                    Cheers,

Yup some forced cooling is about the only thing you can do there. The 1100 is designed/expected to run hot though.
